Formula to learn major scales.

The formula to easily find the major scale of any note is written below.

whole step - whole step - half step - whole step - whole step - whole step - half step

i.e   w - w - h - w - w - w - h

Good enough..???? What does it mean???


To understand this let us take an example of C major scale.

The scale looks like this.

C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C


Now the confusing part comes here.

Acording to the chromatic scale, after C comes C#/Db,

So where did D come from????

Apply the formula. 

One half step from C is C#/Db but we want one Whole step. So one whole step would look like this.
                    
                     Whole Step
  ___________________________________
 |                                                              |
C---half step----C#---half step----D      and so on.....

Similarly calculate all the other notes in the scale.
